Coffee and cookies

I woke up in the morning and had a cookie and coffee and read about natural weed killer. I'm going to pick the weeds or spray them with an epsom salt combination. Here's the recipe-  1 gallon vinegar, 2 Cups Epsom salt, 1/4th Cup dawn dishwashing soap and spray it heavily first thing in the morning and the weeds will go away. Roundup is an herbicide that contains glyphosate which kills plants. There are other chemicals in it besides glyphosate that are damaging too. Monsanto introduced roundup in 1974 and it dominates the markets. That's not good because it is bad for our body and our wildlife. I don't mind some weeds, I think a little imperfection looks best. I don't want an immaculate yard in the suburbs. I want a yard with healthy squirrels, rabbits and birds and my baby and dog to breathe pure air and not step on chemicals. I grew herbs and flowers and I need to transplant them outside soon. I'm going to help build some raised garden beds too. Spring time is so pretty I love it, I wake up early to go outside and water my flowers in the pots. I can smell the lilacs that are in bloom for only 2 or 3 weeks! I am trying to be aware about what I do that isn't good. Or notice what is hurting the outdoors I love so much. I changed my laundry detergent to less harsh ingrediants that I make myself and I love it. I use the same container to store it in so I'm no longer buying those plastic jugs of laundry detergent. Less plastic in the landfill. I made that change because my skin is so sensitive. Plus I realized they're putting some chemicals in there that go on my body. Also the water and soap drains into the ground from the washing machine, none of that garbage anymore. Well my laundry soap recipe I will do another post another day about that, got off topic. Gotta get off my nursing lazy boy and get some jobs done today.

Idaho

Every month or 2 we go to Idaho to see our family there. It is so pretty in the Western states. I'm so happy we live in Colorado, so I have the privilege to travel very easily since we live in central U.S.A! My husband and I have started to thoroughly enjoy traveling. We just started collecting magnets for the side of our fridge from each state we visit! We've been to Idaho many times also  Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Texas, Wyoming, Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska together. One of my dream trips is to travel to most of the Eastern states together as a family. We would also love to travel to Michoacan, Mexico to visit his sister and her son and his grandma. We would love for our daughter to meet the great grandma she's named after!  Our trips to Idaho are always fun and we love the scenery in South Eastern Idaho and have even talked, or dreamed about buying land there. We drive out to the wolverine canyon most visits, and it is an open recreation area to camp, ride A...

Minnesota Christmas

We drove to Minnesota to be with our family for Christmas day and it was super fun to see our family and friends. I love going to my parents and taking a piping hot sauna. They have a wood fired stove. I saw 8 of my siblings, 2 of my sisters were in Monroe, Washington and 1 of my brothers was in Detroit, Michigan with their spouse's family. We also took all the dogs on some long walks. We all like dogs so whenever we get together there's about 7 dogs running around. The dirt road we walk down is really quiet and it rarely sees a car because there's only about 3 people that live on it I love Minnesota it had a piece of my heart in it. I love the snowy winters, Caribou coffee tastes delicious, and it is always nice to see my family and friends that live there. Also living in Colorado is quite the experience, I've never lived by the mountains before and it is really pretty. We've bought a house here and we're lucky that my husband's job provides for us...

Key Hole- Devils backbone

The other day I went for a hike with another mom friend and her baby and my little 9 month old baby. It's a good workout hiking with your kid in the carrier! It was a really sunny fall day, perfect for a hike. We're going to make it happen more often, we decided. Some day I want to do the full 14 mile hike to horsetooth reservoir in Ft. Collins. If you're ever in Loveland, Colorado and looking for a short 2 mile hike, go to Devils Backbone! There are rattle snakes there sometimes on the trail so just as you normally would, stay aware of what's on the trail. And wear pants and socks if you are extra nervous about critters, it is just nature though so don't freak too much, it's normal..and snakes won't chase you so just tread lightly!
